Broad update of what is happening in Craig, Wolf Creek, Hardy Creek, Holter, Gary and Cascade, MT
Mark your calendars for the Caddis Festival on May 17. For 2014, all events begin at 4 pm. Join us for the barbeque contest, the growing parade, silent and live auctions, children's activities, a raffle, local vendor booths and at least two live bands, playing late into the evening. All proceeds benefit the Craig Volunteer Fire Department. caddisfestival.com for a list of donations or if you would like to be involved on any level.
For those of you watching for when Craig may get a sewer system, the vote for, or against, the bond will have a big impact. The financial resort tax has taken in $254,000, of which 85% will be used for the sewer. Grants have been granted, but the bond is the final hurdle that needs to be overcome. If you have specific questions about how to register to vote, direct them to Audrey Dufrechou, Election Supervisor, at 406-447-8338. If all goes as planned, and the bond passes, construction could begin in July. For all of us "holding it", that will be a welcome relief.
Izaaks opens to the public the first week of April; Oasis has been open, with new owners, all Winter, and sadly, the Missouri Inn has no intention of opening for 2014 and is for sale (please let us know if you are a buyer!).
There is an effort to build a canyon-area museum in the real estate and law office, next to the Craig Bar. Drop in anytime to see what has been culled so far or if you have items to put up for display. To-date, there are historic photos, books, ephemera and more. Come see what this little fishing village looked like several decades ago and revealed through the current acquisitions.
Plans are underway for a beer festival next Fall. Details will be forthcoming. We invite you to participate or just come drink good beer.
Craigmt.com will be getting a needed overhaul, in the next few weeks, including a live WEBCAM.
It will include more frequent updates, broader content and current contact information, plus community snippets.
Share your feedback and any information you want the public to know in Craig, Wolf Creek, Hardy Creek, Gary, Holter and Cascade.
